TORONTO June 1, 2011 – Founding artists, The Barenaked Ladies, return to the serve!stock stage on June 15^th for another unforgettable performance in support of Serve! The Ladies will join Canadian musicians Royal Wood, Sarah Slean and Ash Koley to transform a private Forest Hill backyard into the rock & roll event of the summer.

“The Ladies are a key reason this event has gained such momentum and become a must-see event.  We are delighted they are once again lending their support to the young people of Toronto and we know it will be a memorable night for everyone” explains Catherine Davey, serve!stock co-chair.

Serve is delighted to announce that Steve Anthony of CP24 will now join Seamus O’Regan and Tara Spencer-Nairn as our hosts for the evening.

Not only are guests privy to a diverse line-up of entertainment in an eclectic backyard location, wine, cocktails and gourmet BBQ, but they are also invited to take part in a silent and live auction of rare wine, experiential trips and special celebrity memorabilia.

Previously announced serve!stock performers The Sheep Dogs have just made it into the top two for the Rolling Stone Choose the Cover contest. As a result, they are now required to appear in the US at several major promotional events and they are regrettably unable to perform at serve!stock. (Don’t forget to vote for them!)

Imagine a shrine for all great sayings, a Pop Psychology Hall of Fame if you will. On these special walls you’d find such stalwarts as “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger,” “Tomorrow’s Another Day” and “Everything Happens For A Reason.” Right over there the “Light At The End of The Tunnel” stands next to “The Great Unknown.” Sure, these sayings are ubiquitous; repeated down through the ages as mantra for some, cliché for others. But now, after 20 years together, Barenaked Ladies are taking time to walk these halls and learn from another bon mot, All In Good Time.

Yes, All In Good Time is the name of the new album, the 11th from this Canadian institution, and their first as a new four-piece. Fourteen bold and adventurous new tracks, recorded in Toronto in the spring and summer of 2009, find Ed Robertson (guitar/vocals), Jim Creeggan (bass/vocals), Kevin Hearn (keyboard/guitar/vocals) and Tyler Stewart (drums/vocals) exploring a very creative and fertile phase of their careers.

Their sound is an amalgamation of diverse influences, their songs sketch together diverse melodies and lyrics, drawing on cross-generational influences from Abba to the Eurythmics, and from Peter Gabriel to Radiohead. The result is a band that is a full embodiment of what they each bring to the duo – quirky charm, and upbeat classic pop music.

The two self proclaimed nerds from Winnipeg were introduced in 2004, and soon after began their musical collaboration. Phil, an established songwriter, was looking for a singer who could relate to his sound. A mutual acquaintance brought Ash to the studio, and after Phil heard her velvety voice, he had Ash record a song as a test. To Phil’s happy surprise, she nailed it in one take and they took to work immediately.

Through 2009 and early 2010 the band released four EPs: White, Black, Red and Blue. Their first hit single “Don’t Let Your Feet Touch Ground” became the launch pad into what was the busiest summer for the band yet, as they made their touring debut with Lilith Fair.

The debut album, Inventions features nine original tracks written by the bandmates and was released in Canada, October 5, 2010 with the bonus track “Sheep in Wolves Clothing,” featured in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy this season.

Royal Wood’s voice, songwriting and musical prowess caught the ear of Pierre Marchand and led to Wood’s decision to let others into his creative universe.
